This multi-journal special issue project is one of the many legacies of our late colleague and friend, Professor James H. Liu. Deeply concerned about a world threatened by issues such as poverty, inequality, injustice, human rights violations, political instability, pandemics, water and food shortages, and climate change, James emphasized that academic silos are a luxury we cannot afford. He envisioned the need for internally driven initiatives that could break the cycle of fragmentation in knowledge and practice across disciplines and professions. This project is a direct result of his vision.

It is the greatest honour of AASP to host this project, which perfectly aligns with one of our pledges: “to grow our ability to use psychology for peace, well-being, mutual benefit, and mutual understanding around the world.” Ten journals have formed an alliance, each curating a special issue that brings together papers focused on advancing the interface between research and practice in their respective fields while also addressing a selected set of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We are pleased to present these special issues to you, and we hope you enjoy reading them!
