Call for Nominations for the Editorship of the Asian Journal of Social Psychology (AJSP)

The Asian Journal of Social Psychology (AJSP) is the flagship journal of the Asian Association of Social Psychology (AASP), published by Wiley. AASP is pleased to invite nominations (including self-nominations) for the position of Editor-in-Chief for the term 1 January 2027 – 31 December 2029. The Association will also consider nominations for Co-Editors-in-Chief, where editorial responsibilities are shared.

After three years of dedicated service, Dr Yu Niiya will conclude her term as Editor-in-Chief at the end of December 2026. On behalf of AASP, I would like to express our sincere appreciation for her outstanding leadership and contributions to the continued development of AJSP.

As President of AASP, I warmly encourage members to nominate outstanding scholars who have the vision, leadership, and commitment to guide AJSP through its next stage of development. The Editor-in-Chief plays a pivotal role in maintaining the journal’s academic excellence, shaping its strategic direction, and strengthening its international reputation as a leading outlet for high-quality social psychological research.

Please note that nominees must be AASP members in good standing (i.e., with 2026 membership dues paid). Nominations, including self-nominations, may only be submitted by AASP members in good standing. Where a member nominates another person, the nominator should obtain the nominee’s consent before submitting the nomination.

The deadline for nominations is 15 October 2026 at 11:59 pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time).

Nominations should be submitted by email to A/Prof Wendy Li (Email: wendy.li@jcu.edu.au ) and include the following:

  • The full name, affiliation, and contact details of the nominee;
  • The full name and contact details of the nominator (not required for self-nominations);
  • A brief statement (up to 200 words) outlining the nominee’s suitability for the role, including relevant scholarly achievements, editorial experience, leadership, and service to the discipline; and
  • Confirmation that the nominee has agreed to the nomination (not required for self-nominations).

I encourage you to consider colleagues who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, editorial leadership, and service to the discipline, or to nominate yourself if you are interested in contributing to the future development of AJSP and the broader social psychology community.

About the Journal

Aims and scope
The Asian Journal of Social Psychology publishes high-impact original research in all areas of personality and social psychology from Asia and the rest of the world. Topics include, among others, self and identity, social cognition, attitude and behaviour, emotions, individual differences, health and well-being, social influence, communication, interpersonal behaviour, group processes, intergroup relations, and global consciousness. We welcome research in social psychology, regardless of whether a cultural focus and/or Asian emphasis is present. Articles should be explanatory for quantitative studies and interpretive for qualitative studies rather than merely descriptive and must significantly advance current social psychological theories. We also welcome systematic reviews and meta-analyses, interdisciplinary studies, methodological innovations, and research in applied psychology with social psychological significance. Manuscripts that report only cross-sectional data and/or rely solely on self-reports may be considered only if they are part of multiple studies, make research breakthroughs, or propose novel theories. We are committed to advancing robust, reproducible, and open science to drive real impact.

The role of the Editor‐in‐Chief

  • Working with the AASP and Wiley to set the strategic direction of the journal and determine the structure of the Editorial Board;
  • Working with the Editorial Board to solicit content in line with the aims and scope of the journal;
  • Overseeing the peer review process. This includes screening papers for quality control and assigning them to Associate Editors for actioning the review process;
  • Maintenance of appropriate ethical standards during peer review;
  • Ensuring that all content accepted for publication is of a suitable standard;
  • Ensuring manuscripts and proof corrections are provided to the Publisher according to the agreed publication schedule.
  • The EiC(s) will be provided with technical support in managing the journal’s submission and peer review management system, Research Exchange, by the journal’s publisher (Wiley).

The mission of AASP (The Asian Association of Social Psychology), which the Editor‐in‐Chief will uphold, is “to provide scholars in Asia and the Pacific with a collaborative forum for capability building and the discussion, promotion, and publication of their research. It promotes research on Asian traditions, philosophies, and ideas that have scientific merit and practical applications, and expands the boundary, substance, and direction of social psychology by supplementing and integrating Western psychology’s focus on intra-individual processes with a broader and more holistic view from culture and society.
